The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
The Good.
I booked my Valentine's Day hotel tonight!!! The hubby and I were torn between a couple of places. Both our votes went to Vegas... but... our checking account vetoed that option! Numba 2 was Saint Louis. Pretty reasonable.. but... Mardi Gras weekend up there.. so EVERY hotel in the downtown area was booked (ones that werent had like $500 a night rooms.. might as well be Vegas!) Our last option... don't laugh. Branson. I know, I know... it's like Vegas for the retirement community! I think there's enough there to hold our attention. It's the off-season so not as many old foggies running around. The awesomeness is that we're staying at a hotel with an indoor water park! I'm pretty stoked! We got an awesome deal on a room too... King size jacuzzi suite for only $200 for the weekend.. and that's with unlimited water park action!
The Bad.
I completely forgot to DVR the new 19 Kids and Counting on Sunday. Don't judge my TV show choices. Sunni got me hooked on it. Thanks to TLC it was only a few short months and I was completely caught up on all the episodes. The one on Sunday was the Special Duggar Delivery of the preemie Josie. I cannot for the life of me find it anywhere on the internet. And trust me.. I've tried EVERYWHERE!!! Oh well.. hopefully it'll be on hulu next week....
The Ugly.
National health care. Really? For anyone who wants Congress to vote YES on this is absolutely crazy. Wanna know why?? Because people on nationalized health care don't get cared for. Military health care IS socialized health care. I get told who, what, where, when, and why I can go to the doctor. I have to call AT LEAST a month ahead of time for a routine check-up. If I happen to come down with strep throat or the flu, I suck it up. If I even TRIED to call for an appointment, psh.. "we can get you in to the doctor in 3 weeks." 3 WEEKS?? Hopefully I've contaminated the entire base before I get to go to the doctor!! That's only on a military base. A SMALL military base at that. I'd hate to see the entire nation trying to get into the doctor if they get sick!
Another thing that pisses me off. I went to the doctor on my birthday for my 'yearly exam'. We all know what that is, so I won't go into detail. I've been to 3 'yearly exams' while Kyle has been in the Army. Not ONCE have I had the same doctor! Coming from small town Iowa, that just seems ridiculous to me! At this lovely doctor's visit, I got my renewal of my birth control. Pretty standard. My doctor decided to put me to the test though. She only put one refill on it! (Army refills go in 3 month increments) So now, I'm coming to the 6 month point, and can't get another refill! I've tried calling several times to be put through to my doctor, but no luck. Today, after getting transferred 6 times I was put through to her nurse's voicemail. I told the voicemail what was up... and NOBODY HAS CALLED ME BACK!!!! And you wonder why so many military spouses end up pregnant, because of shit like this.
Last year when we moved to MO, somehow my prescription got caught in a black hole... my prescription from the year before that was in my records, but not from the current year. That was fun trying to get that sorted out... 2 years now they've effed with my pills..... maybe they're telling me to have a baby????

Bucket List
A few years ago I made a Bucket List (a few years ago meaning when the movie came out!). I'm going to post it on here. I'm not done adding things to it, but I doubt I'll ever be. Since it was made a few years ago, some of the things on it have been done. (Far less than I'd have hoped!!) My first list was 25 things that I wanted to do before I turned 25. I've since added some things that I know will not be possible to accomplish before I turn 25, so I'll put those on the end :)

In-Laws........

Well, it's official. The in-laws are coming this weekend. We tried to mess up their plans, but it was a no-go. Instead, I have come up with an even better plan. They have baby fever... bad. Over Christmas I was asked numerous times when we were going to start trying for a baby. My reply was "as long as there's alcohol around, no baby for me!"... usually followed by a chug of whatever alcoholic beverage was in front of me at the time.
Anyone seeing where I'm going with this yet??
If you guessed that I will not be drinking ANY alcohol this weekend, you guessed correctly. I am going to turn down drinks in my house while they're here, and drinks when we (most likely) will go out to eat. Heck, I'll even cut out pop! I have to make this as believable as possible! It's been less than a month since we've seen them, so I'm not worried about 'showing' or anything. I just want them to notice that I'm not drinking... and get them all excited for a baby... when there's definitely not going to be one for quite some time. Insert evil laugh.
If there's anything else that I should try to avoid while trying to make my in-laws believe that I'm preggo... let me know! I'll take everything into consideration!!
This will hopefully teach them to ASK us if we have plans before TELLING us that they're going to come down for a visit!

Job?
I need a job. I mean, really. Not only do I need to get out of the house for some social interaction, but I need some moolah! I must admit, I've been pretty spoiled my entire life. Not to the point where I have 8 new cars and designer clothes avalanching my bedroom, but to the point where I could pretty much tell my parents I needed to go shopping and I'd have a credit card in my hand in 10 minutes.... with a reasonable limit of course!
I've tried to convince myself that I can't compete with what my family has and what Kyle's family has. Our parents have worked their entire lives to be able to provide for the family and be able to fill the houses with fun things. Both Kyle and I were lucky growing up. We've gotten too used to having pretty much whatever we want, when we want it. It's starting to put a lot of stress on our bank account!
At first we thought we were invincible. I mean, one month after we were married in 2007, we were driving around in a 2008 SUV! THAT wasn't expensive at all! Then came buying furniture. Hello pillow top mattress!!.... memory foam was WAY outta my price range! Big screen TV? Of course! The icing on the cake was when we decided to trade in Kyle's perfectly fine 2002 car for a 2007 model. Fortunately, all of those were fine. We budgeted and have enough money for 2 car payments... which is pretty hard on a military salary!
Things start to go to shit when credit cards are put in the mix. I have an entire semester of college on a credit card. Yeah... not even lying. It's now down to about $900 which is much better than the original amount on it! We also decided that since we were going home for Christmas, that we'd just put all the presents and our trip on a credit card. Bad idea. Instead of living within our budget, we dropped around $2000. And of course, since I only have one class left to finish my degree, no financial aid is available. Had to put another $850 on our Cabela's card. At least we get points towards Kyle's next gun purchase, right? Right!?!?
So... I need a job. I hate having ANY sort of credit card balance, so right now, it's absolutely killing me. If you know of anywhere that's hiring... let me know.. this is getting ridiculous.

I'm not making plans anymore....
Have you ever noticed how the Army has a way of ruining every plan you try to put in place? I sure have. I almost didn't get married because the Army felt it was necessary to wait until the last possible minute to approve Kyle's 4-day pass to come home to get married. They also cut my Christmas break short this year, insisting that Kyle attend Warrior Leader Course that started on January 3rd. That didn't really bother me though. I was prepared to go the 17 days without seeing my husband.
The course changed with the new year though, it isn't a 'live-in' course anymore. Which means that everyday, Kyle would get up at 0400 and return home at 2000 (8pm). In theory, most would agree that seeing your husband over not seeing your husband would be good. I think I disproved that theory. If Kyle didn't have to come home every night, he would be able to sleep in an extra hour, and cut off an extra half hour of driving home every night, so he'd get to sleep earlier. He was EXHAUSTED. He would come home every night, eat supper, shower and go to bed. Talk about interaction with each other!
He did manage to do VERY WELL in the course, he graduated "Distinguished Honor Graduate" which is basically the Valedictorian of Army courses. He graduated this past Thursday, and had put in a 4-day pass in order to spend some much needed time with me! All was good until Friday around one (when we finally rolled out of bed!). He had 2 missed calls from his squad leader. Someone of higher ranking had decided that the band needed to send someone to the NCO of the Quarter board. And Kyle was the only NCO who had an up to date board packet ready. Guess who gets their 4-day pass taken away to go to the board on Monday?
For all of you who don't know what a 'board' is, let me give you a few hints. To get promoted to e-5 or above, a soldier must participate in a 'promotion board'. At the promotion board, the soldier is drilled with questions by higher ranking soldiers. These questions can pretty much be about anything Army related. There are numerous 'study guides' and websites which have questions that may be asked at a board. There are also 'competition boards'. These are boards like the NCO of the Quarter board, if you win this board, you can compete for NCO of the year and stuff like that. Kyle hates competition boards, if you don't believe me, just ask him.... he has like a 15 minute rant about them.
Needless to say, Kyle is not happy about having to go to this board on Monday, and since they took away a day of his vacation in order to do it, he's even more pissed. We had actually toyed around with going to Vegas over this weekend, but decided not to, as the in-laws were going to come visit.
Oh... and another rant. Kyle's parents. They told us over Christmas they would be coming down this weekend to deliver us our deep-freeze. Apparently it was decided that they weren't coming because of the weather. Funny thing is, my GRANDMA drove down to Branson this weekend... and Kyle's parents are afraid to drive. Nice. So they decided that they're coming next weekend. Didn't ask us if we were busy or not, just told us they were coming. I find that very rude. So, on Wednesday, we're going to call them and tell them that we have something to do... and eff up their plans for the weekend :) *evil laugh*
